Re-fashioning

I have been wanting to try this re-fashioning tutorial for a long time.

It is to turn a men's shirt into a girl's dress.

I think it worked pretty well for a first go.

Sarah loves it and I think it will be a great summer day dress.

It is a very clever idea. The yoke from the back becomes the bodice at the front, and the buttons from the front do up down the back.

It feels very weird to start cutting up a perfectly good shirt (that is a little too small for my big hubby) but I think it has become a perfectly good dress now.

You've done a fantastic job on the dress. Who would have thought that it was once a man's shirt? I bet Dave is thrilled to see it put to such good use.

Sarah looks beautiful - I love the fabric flower brooch. It really sets it off.

What a great idea! You did a lovely job. Maybe I can convince R to part with all those 90's shirts he keeps for sentimental value and make some dresses for the girls.

That looks great! I have seen that tutorial but haven't tried it yet. I think you have inspired me to give it a go some day.

It looks great, I found a turorial for this a while back, and made one for my little one, it was her most worn dress that year. The end result is great, because you can look at those buttons down the back, and know that you didn't have to sweat about them!

Hi Jo,
I came here via 168hrs. I have been having a fun lunch break looking at your blog. Lots of lovely things.

I have also used this tutorial to make my littlest a dress, but I used a ladies shirt. It's a excellent easy tutorial.
